Rockchip at CES2020: Technology Highlights of Tablet/Vision/Audio/OTT/IoT

1. Rockchip tablet solutions support Android10.0!

Rockchip's tablet solutions fully support the latest Android 10.0 OS, and it is widely deployed in government and enterprise office equipment, education, finance, entertainment, medical equipment, and other tablet applications.

A number of tablet products powered by high-performance flagship solution RK3399, including education tablets, 2in1 PCs, and IoT industrial control tablets, were displayed onsite; cost-effective solutions RK3326 and RK3126C supporting Android 10.0 Go version were also displayed.

From entry-level to high-performance, Rockchip tablet solutions meet the diverse needs of the tablet market.

2. AI Smart Vision Solution Appling in Security and New Retailing

In the intelligent vision exhibition area, Rockchip showed a cascading edge computing solution based on RK3399 + RK1808, in which the super powerful AI platform can be flexibly superimposed to achieve fast, timely and secure edge data processing.

Structured light module based on RK1608 can support high-precision 3D modeling of people or objects, applied in payment, medical beauty, industrial control and other scenes. Rockchip also exhibited wide dynamic recognition based on RK180X series solutions, DMS(Driving Monitoring System), as well as security and new retailing solutions and end products including 3D human perception new retail device and 3D identification smart door lock.

3. Diversified Products Forms Powered by Rockchip Smart Assistant Solutions

Based on Rockchip RK3308 and RK3326, Baidu smart speaker products, WeChat smart photo frames, Youdao translation pen, Alibaba smart home voice control center were all exhibited.

The Obexx intelligent AI robot, based on RK3399, is extremely creative. Users can design a  customized voice assistant to experience a different voice-controlled intelligent life.

4. In the streaming media exhbition area

ATV, OPS commercial boxes, projectors and other products based on RK3128H / RK3328 / RK3368 / RK3399 chips were displayed.

5. IoT Modules and AI Solutions

In the IoT area, Rockchip showed the latest Toybrick series AI development board based on RK3399Pro and RK1808, which are more powerful in performance and covers more development applications.

The industrial control AI core board based on RK1808 supports -40 ~ 85 ° working temperature  and can be applied to various industrial control level industrial products, DMS device, etc.

Rockchip showed mature application solutions in five exhibition areas during CES2020, covering personal consumer electronics and commercial markets in many industries.

The brand-new AI interactive experience of face detection, voice control, and human perception will be a new round upgrade of Rockchip solutions and products, and it also surprises the industry and developers in the beginning of the year. 

RockChip Releases RK2108 Smart Dock Solution, Turing an Android Tablet into a Smart Display

RockChip releases RK2108 smart dock solution, which adapts to Android tablets and make tablets become smart display products. A Tablet with smart dock can be voice-controlled by users for apps, music, videos, searching and other functions, which will greatly expand the application scenarios of traditional tablets.

Rockchip RK2108 is a new  and high cost-effective solution for audio applications, with MCU+DSP architecture and supports A/D audio interface, MIPI DSI/MCU LCD interface and USB2.0 interface.

 [Cambridge UK, 1 April 2019] Linaro Ltd, the open source collaborative engineering organization developing software for the Arm® ecosystem, today launched two 96Boards Compute SOM designs with Rockchip Toybrick and Beiqicloud - TB-96AI and TB-96AIoT - and a 96Boards SOM Carrier Board. Also, Linaro announced the publication of version 1.0 of 96Boards System-on-Module (SOM) specifications. 96Boards is Linaro’s initiative to build a single software and hardware community across low-cost development boards based on Arm technology.

Today two 96Boards SOM specifications have been launched - the Compute Module Specification and the Wireless Specification. Both specifications encourage the development of reliable and cost-effective embedded platforms for building end-products. The specifications have been proposed, created and reviewed by the current 96Boards Steering Committee Members.

● The Compute Module Specification, which defines a SOM with generic module-to-carrier board interface, independent of the specific SoC choice on the module. The Compute module addresses the application requirements of segments including industrial automation, smart devices, gateway systems, automotive, medical, robotics and retail POS systems.

● The Wireless specification designs a SOM for interchangeable wireless module applications, supporting standard and/or proprietary wireless standards such as 802.15.4, BLE, WiFi, LoRa, NB-IoT, LTE-M etc. The specification is designed to enable evolution that will support multiple products and future wireless standards.

The launch of the new 96Boards specifications means that developers now have a SOM solution which is compatible across SoCs. SOM solutions today use a variety of different connector solutions including SO-DIMM connectors used in DRAM and Mini Module Plus (MMP) connectors for certain specialist boards. Up until now, there has been no solution offering flexible IO and a robust mounting mechanism, nor a standard form factor. The new 96Boards SOM specifications aim to address this lack of choice by producing a general purpose SOM platform that will enable plug and play compatibility between a whole range of different SOM solutions.

Rockchip RK3399 has passed AI chip evaluation by the Artificial Intelligence Industry Alliance (AIIA)

 The international forum “AI in 5G - Leading the New Era Forum” was held in Shenzhen on March 6. At the conference, Artificial Intelligence Industry Alliance (AIIA) officially announced the first round of “AIIA DNN benchmark V0.5” evaluation results. As one of the products evaluated in the first round, Rockchip RK3399 passed the evaluation.

Mainly targeting the edge and based on AIIA’s authoritative test platform, AIIA DNN benchmark V0.5 objectively reflects the performance of processors with DNN acceleration capacity in completing inference tasks under four typical application scenarios. According to Sun Mingjun, the Leader of the General Group of AIIA, the first round of evaluation involved four typical application scenarios and two major categories of testing indicators, including speed (fps) and algorithm performance, such as top1, top5, mAP, mIoU, PSNR, etc.. It is the first benchmark in the field of deep learning processor that distinguishes integer and float comparison.

AI solution Rockchip RK3399 ,adoting 28nm process, participated in the first round of evaluation. The results showed that while fixed-point retraining was not required in float models, int8 achieved the performance double that of float computation at the price of a maximum precision loss of 1%.

Furthermore, in the Interpretation evaluation, AIIA tried to evaluate quantization and float models separately for the first time in the benchmark. The development board based on Rockchip RK3399, showed superior performance in a number of indicators, which were at the leading level in the industry.

The powerful performance of Rockchip RK3399 development board is also attributed to Tengine, a lightweight modular high-performance neural network inference engine developed by OPEN AI LAB. It specifically targets the optimization of Arm embedded devices without relying on third-party databases and supports Android and Liunx.
 

Tengine supports different common convolutional neural networks, including SqueezeNet, MobileNet, AlexNet, ResNet, etc. and the optimization strategies such as layered fusion and 8-bit quantization. In addition, it fully develops the performance of Arm CPU by calling the HCL database targeting the optimization of different CPU architectures. For example, it takes merely 111ms to single-threadedly run the MobileNet at mobile devices one time at the RK3399 platform Cortex-A72.
 

In terms of the innovation and development in respect of AI devices such as IoT devices, intelligent interactive devices, personal computers and robots, Rockchip has showed the leading advantages in technology and ranks among the top 20 in the global AI chip list. In addition to RK3399, the flagship AI chip RK3399Pro attracts equal interests and Rockchip uses the hardware structure design of CPU+GPU+NPU for the first time. The chip integrated NPU (neural network processor) integrates the key technologies of machine vision, speech processing and deep learning, and the on-chip NPU algorithm performance reaches 3.0TOPs, possessing the advantages of high performance, low power consumption and easy development. The RK3399Pro-based EAIDK-610Pro development board has been in full swing. It is a brand new embedded AI application development platform and will provide more comprehensive support for AI developers, the multiple scenarios of partners’ products, the development of whole platforms and ecological layout.
